Making to your own measurements.

We offer all our styles in our standard sizes 6 to 18 (see above). Using our Made-To-Measure service we are able, for a small extra charge, to make various adjustments to our standard sized garments during the initial cutting process of manufacture. Using measurements provided by you as a guide, this should ensure a perfect fit from the outset, and reduce the need for other alterations to the completed garments at a later date.

This is particularly useful with regard to skirt lengths, as quite a few of the styles have particular design detail at the hem in the flare and train, which would be lost if you were to drastically shorten the length of a finished 'standard length' skirt. We are able to shorten or lengthen a skirt in proportion during production, and none of the skirt detail is lost. No matter how tall you are, we can accommodate your requirements!

Adjustments to bust, waist and hip measurements can also be taken into consideration.

How it works is this: We choose the nearest size patterns to the customers measurements, and then we make the necessary alterations to the pieces as they are cut out, corresponding to the customers own measurements. The charge for this is just £5.00 for each alteration. For example; skirt length alteration only would be just £5.00; for alterations to bust, waist, hips/seat, bodice length and skirt length the surcharge would be £25.00.

Taking your measurements.

Here is a list of body measurements that we would need if you wish to use the Made-To-Measure Service: Please follow the guidelines below when taking your measurements. Use a regular Dressmakers tape measure. We would prefer to have your measurements in inches if possible (height in feet & inches).

FOR GOWN (BODICE AND SKIRT)

1. Bust - Measure around the widest part of your bust.

2. Under-Bust - Measure around your chest just underneath your bust.

3. Waist - Measure around your natural waist, the narrowest part of your middle, usually just above your tummy button. 

4. Hips - Measure around your hips, 4" to 5" down from your natural waist.

5. Seat - Measure around your body, 9" to 10" down from your natural waist, around the widest part of your bottom. IMPORTANT: We need a measurement from where you are the widest even if it's further than 9" down from your waist! If it's further down than 9", let us know how far down you took the measurement.

6. Skirt Length - For full-length: measure from your natural waist to just on the toes of the shoes you intend to wear with your outfit, for knee-length: measure from your natural waist to just below your knee.

7. Nape To Waist - Measure from the nape of your neck to your natural waist. (Nape of the neck is the bottom of the back neck where a normal tee-shirt neckline would sit). This is only necessary if you need us to alter the length of the bodice, i.e. if you are taller or shorter than average (under 5'3" or over 5'10").

8. Height - Tell us how tall you are: Your full height, but without shoes on, preferably in feet and inches.
